Rembrandt (horse)

Rembrandt ( born March 15, 1977, † 30 October 2001) was a Westphalian gelding and at international tournaments worldwide successful dressage horse.

Rembrandt, ridden by Nicole Uphoff, was - among many other achievements - Olympic gold medalist in Seoul in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992. Both times he reached both individual gold and a gold medal with the team. He joined in 1996 once again at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, but was taken by Nicole Uphoff due to a muscle strain ahead of the competition. On 30 October 2001, the bay gelding had to be euthanized because of osteoarthritis.
