Remigius of Auxerre

Remigius of Auxerre, Latin: Remigius Autissiodorensis, French: Remi d' Auxerre (* in Burgundy around 841, † 908 ) was a Benedictine monk, teacher and author of commentaries on the Bible and ancient texts.

Remigius was in the Abbey of Saint -Germain d' Auxerre student of Heiricus of Auxerre and taught there as his successor. In Reims, he organized on behalf of the local archbishop, the local schools new. After the death of the bishop, he taught in Paris the liberal arts and probably theology.

Remigius is the author of numerous Bible commentaries and Roman and early Christian writers such as Boethius and Prudentius, which also contain numerous notes to ancient mythology. He also dealt with the question of the origin of the universe.
