History

The village Remlingen, formerly called Romininga, Remeningen or Remblingen was mentioned for the first time under the abbot Rhabanus Maurus of Fulda, of the Gaugrafen Boppo of Henneberg undertook a barter on 9 July 839, where county goods in Remlingen went over to the Abbot. The royal confirmation certificate was issued on July 7, the Pious 839 by King Ludwig. Remlingen was an important market town in the Middle Ages. Next Remlingen was a staging post on the ancient trade route Prague - Nuremberg - Frankfurt - Brussels, today largely identical to the main road 8

The ensemble consists of a place about within its late medieval fortification line. Grown from a Carolingian- Ottonian royal court on the important east-west road Frankfurt -Würzburg, the place was during the Middle Ages belonged to the counts of Wertheim; since the late 16th or early 17th century, it was divided between the county of Castell and the Bishopric of Würzburg; this division is at the two power locks on townscape still readable. The rule courts have been divided in the kingdom in 1803, and in the mediatization of Bavaria, Baden and the Grand Duchy of Würzburg, until 1810 all Remlingen part of the Grand Duchy was, with which it fell in 1814 to the Kingdom of Bavaria.

The purely rural location builds up on the hillside. The highest point is occupied by the built on a high retaining wall former Castell Castle Remlingen of the Counts of Castell- Remlingen; in the Talniederung the creek lies the once regular four wings of the former palace Wurzburg Office Remlingen, the lasting effect only in fragments in today's building stock.

A private, enclosed district forms the parish church with its surrounding churchyard, on a slope too high up. The local plan is irregular and is supported only at the edge by the remote paths that intersect here: the east-west street forming the valley crossing a bend to the Würzburgische Office Castle ( Marktheidenfelder and Würzburg road ); the north-south road leading from the former Upper Gate along the retaining wall of the castle Castell to the marketplace; it then connects to the Würzburg road from which it separates again until outside of town in the direction of wooden churches. So the place had three goals, one of which is no more. The main part of the village developed, away from the remote paths along irregular streets guides to the east ( Lower, Long and Back Alley ); it finds its center in the small, steep, dominated by the baroque town hall building marketplace. The streets are all lined with farms, the turn to the road each their residential building in gable position. It is now mostly plastered half-timbered houses of the 18th century. The frequently occurring year 1710 suggests a reconstruction after a local fire. The relatively high number of historic houses distinguishes the place.

The Höhberg lying on Remlinger district is one of the oldest vineyards in Franconia, for the first time mentioned in the year 839

Remlingen was and is known for its three R's: cattle, horses and beets. Remlinger cattle were exported all over the world (including Canada, South Africa and France). Until recently, there was a beetroot breed club whose beet places Remling was highly sought after. The equestrian sport is actively and successfully from the local riding and driving club operated. Every two years, will take place at Pentecost, a nationally renowned horse show on the grounds of the club instead.

The male beet growers was called in the vernacular also a Remmler. From the heyday of sugar beet production an almost bizarre inscription on the pediment of a visible from the B 8 from the house is left: Remlinger beets - breed club.
