Remmels

Remmels is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Remmels is located about 26 km west of Neumünster and 20 km south of Rendsburg in Akrug Nature Park. The municipality is crossed by the main road 77 from Rendsburg to Itzehoe, in the south the highway runs 430 of Neumünster towards Meldorf.

Previously Remmels was connected to the railway network. The meter gauge railway connected circle Rendsburg Rendsburg from 1901 with Hohenwestedt and was continued after 1916 to Schenefeld. 1956/57, the line was closed, today all track systems are degraded.

Policy

Of the nine seats in the municipal council has the voter community KWG since 2013, all the local election seats.

The municipality is currently evolving from an agricultural community into a residential community.

In the list of cultural monuments in Remmels are registered in the list of monuments of Schleswig- Holstein cultural monuments.

The pictured in the arms of Remmels water tower is still preserved. It dates from 1913 and was renovated in 1994.
