Remo Fischer

Remo Fischer ( born August 13, 1981 in Bäretswil ) is a Swiss cross-country skier.

Life and career

Fischer began at the age of nine with the cross-country skiing and took 2000 for the first time at a Junior World Cup finals. His best result he achieved in Štrbské Pleso, when he finished more than 10 km freestyle in the victory of the German Ron Spanuth the 28th rank. A year later he competed in the Junior World Championships in Poland Karpacz. His best Resultet was the 17th place on the 30 km freestyle, which were held in the mass start.

In the season 2002/ 03 Remo Fischer was first used in the Cross Country World Cup. In his debut he reached the 80th place among 94 athletes over the distance of 15 km free technique in Davos. When he again got a chance in the World Cup in the 2004/05 season, he could fight in Ramsau with number 23 over 30 km pursuit his first World Cup points. This result secured him a spot in the Swiss national team at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf. There, he finished in the pursuit competition the 46th rank on the 15 km freestyle ranked 16th in the relay and 15th place.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin managed fishing on the 21th Place 50 km free style and 36th in the pursuit competition. With the Swiss season he placed himself in seventh place. Also in Russian Rybinsk he could advance with seventh place on the 30 km freestyle in the top ten. In the 2008 /09 season he won the Swiss championship title over 15km freestyle, and a silver medal in the pursuit of more than 20 km. International the 19th place 50 km free style at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec was his most valuable result. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he ran about 15 km freestyle at the 15th position.
