Remoray-Boujeons

Remoray - Boujeons is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Remoray - Boujeons is located on 916 m above sea level, about 17 km southwest of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The double municipality extends in the Jura, in a longitudinal trough west of the Lac de Remoray and Doubstals on the southern slopes of the height of the Grand -Cote.

The area of ​​15.15 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the longitudinal recess of Boujeons, which is oriented in the southwest-northeast direction according to the strike of the Jura Mountains in the region. It is drained by the creek Drésine northeast to Lac de Remoray, which forms the eastern boundary of the municipality of soil. Flanked the longitudinal recess on its south side by the wooded heights of the Bois de la Pila ( to 1050 m), Bois de la Roche and Forêt des Buclées. Also on the north side there are ridges with extensive forests: Grand -Cote, Bois de Chargebin ( 1083 m) and Bois des Loges ( 1151 m). There are no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. In the far west is achieved with 1166 m the highest peak of Remoray - Boujeons in the area of ​​the Haute Joux scoring woodland Forêt du Prince.

The double municipality consists of the two districts Remoray (907 m ) on a Verebnungsfläche west of the Lac de Remoray and Boujeons ( 968 m) in the valley of Drésine as well as various individual farms. Neighboring communities of Remoray - Boujeons are Vaux- et- Chantegrue in the north, Labergement -Sainte -Marie in the east, Brey -et -Maison -du- Bois, Gellin and Sarrageois in the south and Rondefontaine and Mignovillard in the West.

History

The double municipality was formed by the merger of two previously independent municipalities Remoray and Boujeons on 1 January 1973. Since 1999 Remoray - Boujeons is a member of the 19 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Mont d' Or et des Deux Lacs.

Attractions

On the town square Remoray the church, the rectory and the parish hall ( Mairie ) form a beautiful ensemble. The Church of Boujeons is originally from 1620, but was extensively rebuilt in the 19th century.

Population

With 382 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Remoray - Boujeons one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 359 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Remoray - Boujeons was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and animal husbandry, as well as by the forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, including a cheese factory, saw mills and machine shops. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Labergement -Sainte- Marie to Les Pontets. Further road links exist with Mignovillard and Gellin.
