Remoulade

Remoulade or tartar sauce (French sauce rémoulade of rémola, " black radish " or molere from the Latin, " grind ") is a seasoned with herbs and other ingredients mayonnaise.

The basic ingredients of tartar sauce are olive oil, wine vinegar or lemon juice, egg yolk and mustard. Other ingredients include herbs, such as parsley, chervil and tarragon, capers, finely chopped anchovy fillets and chopped pickles.

Tartar sauce can be served with shellfish, breaded fish and brawn as well as boiled beef, roast beef, cold meat of any kind or boiled eggs. It is also used as a sauce for hot dogs and sandwiches.
