Remseck

Remseck is a city on the northeast outskirts of Stuttgart in Baden -Württemberg. It is the sixth largest city of the district of Ludwigsburg and belongs to the central region Ludwigsburg / Kornwestheim within the upper center of Stuttgart.

The community under the name Aldingen am Neckar newly formed only in the context of local government reform 1 January 1975 received in 1977 the name Remseck and is since 1 January 2004 a large district town.

Geography

Remseck located on the outskirts of Stuttgart in the valley of the Neckar and the Rems which opens here. The places left of the Neckar include the so -called Long field that places the right of the Neckar to Backnanger bay.

History

The present city Remseck created on 1 January 1975 by the merger of the municipalities Aldingen, Hochberg, high village, Neckargröningen and Neckarrems initially under the name " community Aldingen am Neckar ", which was renamed on 1 July 1977 in Remseck. The new name is derived from the eponymous former castle fro high above the Remsmündung. At the same place the Remseck castle was built in 1842, so that the name Remseck is handed down from historical times.

1999 exceeded the population of the municipality Remseck the limit of 20,000. The districts of the present city Remseck originally belonged to the diocese of Speyer. Management

The most successful football club is currently the VfB Neckarrems. The club plays in the fifth- highest division of Germany, the Oberliga Baden- Württemberg. VfB Neckarrems succeeded in the season 2009/10 as the first club in the history Remsecks promotion to the Oberliga.
