Renato Soru

Renato Soru ( born August 6, 1957 in Sanluri, Sardinia ) is an Italian entrepreneur and politician.

In June 1997, he founded the telecommunications company Tiscali. He was given this company in 2000 with four billion dollars private assets the richest man in Italy.

In 2004 he was elected President of the Italian region Sardinia, after he had given up his post as CEO of Tiscali.

His policies as president of Sardinia led to disagreements with him supporting parties. November 25, 2008 Soru announced his resignation after he had lost a vote of confidence in parliament. Nevertheless, he joined the election on 15 and 16 February 2009 again, but lost to its competitors Ugo cappellacci ( PdL ), could the election with 52 percent decide for themselves.
