Renato Vugrinec ( born June 9, 1975 in Videm pri Ptuju ) is a Slovenian- Macedonian handball player. He is 1.95 m tall.

Vugrinec, who plays for RK Metalurg Skopje and went aground for the Slovenian national team, is used predominantly in the right rear area.

Career

Renato Vugrinec began with the handball game at MRK Drava Ptuj in his home town. He also denied his first league games. In 1997, he joined the Slovenian Series champion RK Celje, with which he in 1997/98, 1998/99, 1999/2000, 2000/ 01, 2001/ 02, 2002/ 03, 2003 /04 and 2004/ 05, the Slovenian Championship, 1997 / 98, 1998/99, 1999/2000, 2000/ 01 and 2003/ 04 the Slovenian Cup and as the culmination of the 2003/04 EHF Champions League and the club Championships won. During the subsequent sell-off of Celje successful teams also Vugrinec was involved, he went to the German handball league to SC Magdeburg.

But with the Elbstädtern he remained largely unsuccessful, so he moved on to two years to SDC San Antonio in the Spanish league ASOBAL. In 2009 he returned to the RK Celje. A year later he left the financially troubled club in the direction of Qatar, where he played until 2011 when Al Sadd Doha. Shortly after the start of the 2011/12 season he was obliged by HSV Hamburg until the end of the season. Then signed a contract with the Slovenian first division Vugrinec RK Maribor Branik. After only a few games, he moved end of September 2012 from the Macedonian first league RK Metalurg Skopje. With Metalurg 2013 he won the Macedonian Cup.

Renato Vugrinec has played 187 international matches for the Slovenian national team. With Slovenia, he moved in the European Handball Championship 2004 in their own country to the final, but it lost to the German team. In the Men's Handball World Championship for Men in 2007 in Germany Vugrinec was missing due to injury. He participated in the Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004.

Since the beginning of 2014 Vugrinec also owns the Macedonian citizenship and may thus play for the Macedonian national team, as he has complied with the required by the IHF three-year period without international duty.

Private Vugrinec is married to Marina and has three children.
