Renault Safrane (1992-1996)

The Renault Safrane was a between April 1992 and December 2000, built by Renault vehicle of the upper middle class. Predecessor was the Renault 25, the successor to the Renault Vel Satis. The Safrane was produced in northern France Renault Sandouville plant at Le Havre (Normandy).

History

The Safrane was launched in spring 1992 as a replacement for the eight year old R25 on the domestic market, in Germany, he was first delivered in January 1993.

The Safrane has in its basic form on strong parallels to its predecessor, he also owned a hatchback (or hatchback ) with a large tailgate.

Most vehicles were well equipped (especially in the baccarat version). Similar to other models of the French upper middle class also failed the Safrane a major breakthrough. The Safrane was to have with different engines. The engine range started at 107 hp from a 2.2 -liter 4- cylinder engine, which brought it to a variant dreiventiligen to 137 hp. In addition, there was the familiar V6 engine (known as " Euro- V6 " or PRV engine) with 167 hp, which came from a joint development by Renault, PSA and Volvo. Diesel side, there were initially a 2.5 liter and 112 hp big turbo diesel and a 2.1 liter big, 88 -hp engine, but they were deleted or replaced later.

Facelift

In July 1996, an optical and technical facelift. From then on, more modern engines were used: a 2.0 liter 16V four-cylinder with 136 hp, a 2.5 L 20V - five-cylinder with 165 horsepower, a 2.2 liter 12V four-cylinder turbo-diesel with 113 hp and the beginning of 1999 as a top engine 3.0l 24V six-cylinder with 190 hp.

In December 2000, the production of the Safrane was discontinued due to ever- declining sales. His successor was published in spring 2002 Vel Satis.

Equipment

As equipment lines, there was the Safrane from April 1992 to June 1996 as an RN, RT and RXE, where RN basic and RXE was the top equipment.

From the review in July 1996, the facilities were geared more to the engine. So were the 2.0 16V, 2.5 20V of which 3.0 V6 24V ( called initial Paris ) and the 2.2 dT the equipment lines. In addition, there was at any stage still numerous special models such as the Elysée, baccarat and edition.

Safety- stood by the Safrane already on sale beginning ABS as standard available. As early as 1994 there was also airbags for all models. From the beginning there were airbags only in the V6 models, the lines RT and RXE.

Meanwhile, some Safrane fan groups have formed in Germany.

Safrane II

The second generation Safrane was launched in 2008 in the Mexican market. Technically, the model with the South Korean Samsung SM5 is closely related. The body parts of the Safrane are partly identical with those of the Japanese Nissan Teana J31.
