Renazé

Renazé is a commune with 2677 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Mayenne in the Pays de la Loire. The small town has the most inhabitants and the highest population density of the Municipalities of the canton of Saint- Aignan- sur- Roë and the third largest population density of the municipalities of the Arrondissement, Château -Gontier. Renazé is the capital of the Municipal Association of Saint- Aignan - Renazé.

Geography

Renazé is located in the west of France in the southwest corner of the department of Mayenne, 58 kilometers south-west of Rennes, about 27 kilometers southwest of Chateau- Gontier, the seat of sub-prefecture of the arrondissements, and 8.1 kilometers southeast of Saint- Aignan- sur- Roë, the main town the canton on an average height of 64 meters above sea level. The Mairie stands at a height of 76 meters. Neighboring communities of Renazé are Saint-Saturnin- du- Limet in the Northwest, Saint -Martin- du- Limet in the northeast, Grugé -l'Hôpital in the south and La Chapelle- Hullin in the southwest. Culture and sights

In the 19th century, the slate industry recorded an upswing. The slate cover found by the simplified transport by railway widespread. In Renazé the slate has been increasingly promoted underground. In 1857 there were in the church about 400 Ardoisiers (, slate skilled workers ' ), 1920 there were about 1500. Renazé belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Sainte Thérèse Cardinal Suhard of the diocese of Laval. The original church was built in the 15th century. She was 1858 just a ruin.
