René Guillot

René Guillot (* 1900 in Courcoury, Charente -Maritime, † 1969) was a French traveler Africa and YA author.

After studying natural sciences, he went as a teacher to Senegal. Over 20 years he spent in Africa and traveled throughout the continent. From this time the materials for many of his books come youth.

He has won several awards and received the 1964 Hans Christian Andersen Medal for his oeuvre. For Grisha and his bear, he was in 1958 with the World Children's Book Prize ( Prix Enfance du Monde ).
