René Viénet

René Viénet (* 1944 in Le Havre ) is a French Situationist, author, sinologist and filmmaker.

Life and work

In the May riots in Paris in 1968 Viénet is involved in the occupation of the Sorbonne. In 1963 he joined the group of the Situationists. He lived until 1966 in China, was expelled because of his criticism of the Cultural Revolution, and is still known as a critic of those regimes. Later, he also worked at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique.

1967 called Viénet that one should abolish the cinema not only Jean -Luc Godard left. 1970 or 1971, he was expelled from the Situationist International.
