Renesas Electronics K. K. (Japaneseルネサス エレクトロニクス 株式会社, Runesasu Erekutoronikusu Kabushiki - gaisha, Eng. Renesas Electronics Corporation ) is a global Japanese semiconductor company. Renesas is one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in the world (ranked 5 according to iSuppli ).

The business areas include product groups " MCU " (microcontroller ), "Analog & Power Devices" ( discretes, analog ICs and power semiconductors) and " SoC (System on Chip) solutions".

General

The name stands for Renesas Renaissance Semiconductor for Advanced Solutions.

The parent company has its operational headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and its legal in Kawasaki and through subsidiaries with numerous branches in Europe present. The German representative Renesas Electronics Europe GmbH, headquartered in Dusseldorf, as well as offices in Aschheim- Dornach, Stuttgart and Hanover is a 100 % owned subsidiary of Renesas Electronics Europe Ltd.. based in Bourne End / England.

History

Renesas Electronics is the merger of the spun-off semiconductor regions of Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric and NEC. Here, in 2003, had initially Hitachi and Mitsubishi combined its semiconductor regions in the new Renesas Technology. The merger with the 2002 split from NEC NEC Electronics was completed in April 2010 under the new name of Renesas Electronics.

The parent companies or their pension funds still hold large amounts of Renesas Technology.
