Renier of Trit

Rénier de Trith ( † after 1206) was a French crusaders of the Fourth Crusade. He was lord of Trith -Saint -Léger ( Dép North ) in the County of Hainaut.

According to Geoffrey of Villehardouin Rénier de Trith adopted on February 23, 1200 along with Count Baldwin IX. of Flanders the cross for the fourth crusade. The crusade also joined his son Rainald. Until the conquest of Constantinople Opel in April 1204 Rénier is no longer mentioned in Villehardouin, but the Count Hugo counted him IV of Saint-Pol in a letter to the circle of those crusaders after the conquest of Zara (1202 ) for a detour of the Crusade had voted to Constantinople Opel.

After Constantine Opel conquered and the Earl of Flanders was elected for the first emperor of the Latin Empire, was appointed Rénier de Trith by him for the " Duke of Philippopolis " (now Plovdiv ). In this city he was able to move with one hundred and twenty knights without a fight and with the support of the indigenous Greek population in November 1204.
