Renthendorf

Renthendorf is a municipality in the southeast of the Saale- wood - country circuit and part of the joint management hills / valleys.

Geography

Adjacent communities are Eineborn, Kleinebersdorf, Ottendorf, Tautendorf and Weissbach in the Saale- Holzland, the city Triptis in Saale- Orla-Kreis and the city Münchenbernsdorf and Schwarzenbach district Greiz.

The community itself is made up of the two districts Hellborn and Renthendorf.

History

On September 7, 1358 Renthendorf was first mentioned in a document. First, it belonged to the Kingdom of Saxony before it in the course of the War of Liberation in 1815 and the associated territorial concessions to Prussia, and later to the Grand Duchy of Saxony - fell Eisenach - Weimar.

The spur on which the church stands, is surrounded by a wall. It separates the church from the Brehm Memorial. Once protected the Wall a castle. In the village of Wall is also called " Hollow ".

The later zoologist and " father animal " Alfred Brehm was born as a son of the "Bird's Pastor " Christian Ludwig Brehm in the rectory in Renthendorf and died there as well. In the house the Brehm Memorial is with exhibition on the life and work of Alfred Brehm. The two-story brick building is dilapidated (2013 ) and urgent general renovation. The library had to be already outsourced to relieve the static in the District Archives. It has a special purpose association formed for the restoration, the next Renthendorf belong to several surrounding municipalities.

In the churchyard of Renthendorf rest Alfred Brehm, his parents and other family members.

In Hellborn stand at the western edge of the village in a distance of 8 m two stone crosses. The western cross was found in 1930 lying in the nutrients in the stream bed and erected at its present location.
