Renzo Rosso

Renzo Rosso (born 13 Septem-ber 1955 Brugine, Padova, Italy ) is an Italian fashion entrepreneur who founded the fashion brand DIESEL among others in 1978 and has to date.

Life

Rosso grew up in the countryside on in the Po Valley and attended from 1971 Textile College, founded back in Padua. After graduating from the College, he worked from 1975 initially under Adriano Goldschmied (now a well-known jeans brand ) for whose company Moltex. With Goldsmith and other textile producers Rosso finally joined together in 1978 to the Genius Group. From this group different today (2011) well-known fashion brands have emerged, such as Katherine Hamnett, Goldie, Martin Guy, Ten Big Boys and Diesel.

1985 Rosso paid the other shareholders in the company of diesel and took over the company itself in 1996 he opened his first store in Manhattan on Lexington Avenue opposite the flagship store of Levi Strauss.

In the following years the expansion of the company started, and Rosso founded the holding Only the Brave (OTB ). The holding company is (acquired in April 2000) on the subsidiary Staff International, based in Noventa Vicentina ( near Padua ) for the production and distribution and is responsible in part for the distribution of the following brands: Dsquared ² (owned by the holding company), Maison Martin Margiela (owned by the holding company and all collections except Haute Couture ) Viktor & Rolf (owned by the holding company), Marc Jacobs ( Men's Fashion of the main line; under license), Just Cavalli ( licensed since 2011 ) and Vivienne Westwood ( ' Red Label ' for ladies and men's fashion; under license). Rosso is the Chairman (President) of the holding company; CEO since 2010, the former DIESEL CEO Marina Tosin. Seat of OTB is exactly like that of DIESEL, since 2010 Breganze ( previously 8 km away Molvena ). The end of 2012 OTB acquired the majority of the established fashion designer Consuelo Castiglioni of Marni brand

For 2014, Rosso is planning to IPO of Only the Brave.

Rosso lives in Bassano del Grappa in Veneto and since 1996 owner of the resident football club Bassano Virtus 55 Soccer Team.

Social Commitment

  • 2006: Life Ball event in Vienna in favor of HIV-infected and AIDS sufferers among others in connection with a fashion show.
  • Structure of the village of Mali in Central Africa by supplying approximately 20,000 inhabitants with water, schools, Internet and farmland.
  • 2010: donation of U.S. $ 500,000 - to Yéle Haiti to support the victims of the earthquake in Haiti in 2010.
  • 2011: repair the Rialto Bridge in Venice supported by 5 million euros

Others

1991 Rosso fell in love with the Pelican Hotel in the Art Deco district in the south of Miami Beach in Florida. By 1994 he had rebuilt the hotel in such a way that each room is a different character. Due to this renovation, the hotel was a pioneer in the structural development of this part of Miami Beach.
