Representative of German Industry and Trade ( RGIT ) is the liaison office of the Federation of German Industry (BDI ) and the German Industry and Commerce (DIHK ), headquartered in Washington, DC The Delegate of German Industry since January 1, 2011 Thomas Zielke.

Function

RGIT represents on behalf of the elected representatives of the written business in Germany whose political positions and concerns to the U.S. administration, the U.S. Congress and the international organizations in Washington. In addition, this office maintains contacts with companies, trade unions, political foundations and think tanks and regularly reports on current economic policy developments in the United States. The aim of RGIT is to promote transatlantic free trade and to create an economic environment for sustainable economic growth, jobs and innovation in the German -American economic relations. RGIT also takes the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ ) in the USA.

Carrier of RGIT are BDI and DIHK. RGIT is supported in the context of German foreign trade promotion by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi).

Activities

  • Interests of the German economy with the U.S. Administration, Congress, and other American authorities, and international organizations such as the World Bank and IMF
  • Reporting to the sponsoring organizations and their member companies or chambers on political, economic and legislative developments in the United States and information service on the German economy for partners in the U.S.
  • Information and advice on current political and economic developments in cooperation with the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK USA)
  • Events on trade and investment issues to promote the exchange of information between experts from Germany and the USA
  • Organizing and conducting trade missions and networking events, meeting point function for government, business, science, political institutions and experts on transatlantic economic issues
  • Cooperation with the German American Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK USA) in New York, Atlanta and Chicago; Information service and support for 2,500 member companies of the GACC
