Reprise

With Reprise (French " resumption, repeat " ) the most accurate recovery of a particular set part is expressed within a composition in music practice.

Originally the term was only used for the repeat sign. Today, the recapitulation is distinguished from the repetition and variation. So it is a more or less unvariierte repetition within a musical composition that does not immediately follow the Repeated (as it is in about the dal segno abbreviation ). So ( ABA), the second A- part or in Rondo is referred to the resumption of the ritornello as a recapitulation in the three -part song form.

Most commonly, the term is used for the third form of the sonata form. Here is omitted a key change, so it is not an exact repeat of the exposition. The recapitulation goes after the exposure has been played, the implementation of which requires. The recapitulation follows sometimes even a final part, called the coda.
