Republican Party (Turkey)

The Republican Party (CP, Turkish Cumhuriyetçi Party) was a political party in Turkey.

History

The Republican People's Party ( CHP), which is considered the founder of the Turkish Republic in 1923, was the oldest party in the country. After the party, however, starting in 1966 under Chairman Bülent Ecevit took over the so-called " center-left " policy, two groups of MPs from the party split off. The first, in 1967, the Trust Party, while the Republican Party was founded by the second group in 1972.

The party was founded on September 4, 1972. The founding chairman of the party was Kemal Satir, a former vice - prime minister. However, the party was half a year later, united on 28 February 1973 with the Nationalist Party Trust (aka Trust Party), which was renamed the Republican party trust.
