Republika-Srpska-Dinar

The Republika Srpska - dinar was the currency of Republika Srpska between 1992 and 1998, during and after the Bosnian War.

History

The dinar reversed in the areas that were controlled by the Army of Republika Srpska. Areas that were occupied by Croatia, the Croatian Kuna used. The Bosnian dinar was used in areas that were controlled by the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

There 2 different series were introduced by the National Bank of Republika Srpska. The first was introduced in 1992 and corresponded in value and appearance of the Yugoslav dinar.

On 1 October 1993, the second series has been introduced. It replaced the first in the ratio of one million to first order for the currency has been adjusted back to the Yugoslav dinar. It followed that the Yugoslav dinar ( RSD in 1994 and the first Novi Dinar later) was used in parallel to 1998. He was replaced around 2 ½ years after the Daytonvertrag by the Convertible Mark as national currency.

There were no coins issued for both series.

Bills

The first series of banknotes was issued in 1992. There the coat of arms of Serbia, as well as the value of the dinar was used in Cyrillic. There were notes with the following value:

In the second series, a portrait of Petar Kočić on the front and the coat of arms of Serbia was used on the back. All banknotes of this series have the same size of 130mm times 58mm. The only safety feature was the watermark. There were notes with the following value:

  • 100,000 dinars
  • 1,000,000 dinars
  • 5,000,000 dinars
  • 100 million dinars
  • 500 million dinars
  • 10 billion dinars
