Resava (river)

The Resava ( Serbian Cyrillic Ресава ) is a river in central Serbia. It flows through the towns Despotovac and Svilajnac in the district Pomoravlje and ends at the latter after 65 kilometers in the Morava.

The local historical region, an important monastery, the Resava school, the coal mines REMBAS and Resava Cave have their name from the river.

Run

The Resava from Mount Beljanica in the Homolje mountains east of Despotovac. Not far below its source located to the waterfall Veliki Buk and the Resava cave popular destinations. Before they reached the first town, flows through the Resava to approximately 25 kilometers in length up to 400 meters deep gorge. Shortly before Despotovac located on its banks, the monastery Manasija in which Stefan Lazarević is buried. Between Despotovac and Svilajnac is located in the valley of the coalfield REMBAS.

Named after the river region is divided into two parts: In Gornja Resava ( " Upper Resava " ) is forested hilly to mountainous and stronger, belongs Donja Resava ( " low - Resava " ) already at the foothills of the Pannonian Plain and is intensively used for agriculture.
