Resonant-tunneling diode

The resonant tunneling diode technology uses so-called resonant tunneling diodes or interband tunnel diodes. Such a diode has two nanometers thick tunnel barriers. For an electrical current electrons have to tunnel through the barriers. The likelihood of this depends on the level of the quantized energy state between the tunnel barriers. It follows from the uniqueness of the tunnel diodes. They have a negative differential resistance. On the basis of tunnel diodes for both logic and memory elements can be realized.
