RESTENA

The RESTENA - Réseau de l' Education Nationale et Téléinformatique de la Recherche is a high-speed data network for education and research institutions in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It has been taken into operation in 1989 and 1992 connected to the Internet. Since 2001 it is part of the network GÉANT.

It is since 2000 operated by the " Fondation RESTENA ", one the Luxembourg education and research ministry affiliated foundation. The founding members of the Foundation include the Centre d' Etudes de Populations, de Pauvreté et de Politiques Socio- Economiques, the Centre de Recherche Public Gabriel Lippmann, the Centre de Recherche Public Henri Tudor, the Centre de Recherche Public Santé, the Centre Universitaire de Luxembourg and the Institut Supérieur de Technologie ( Luxembourg ).

The Board of Directors of the Foundation is busy with the heads of member institutions, as well as with heads of ministerial departments of the Ministries of Education, Research and Finance.

The RESTENA Foundation is also the ( domain registry ) for domains under the Top Level Domain LU. In addition, it operates since 1998 the " Luxembourg Internet Exchange " ( LIX ), an exchange platform for IP traffic between Luxembourg Internet service providers.
