Resurs-DK No.1

Resurs - DK1 is a Russian Earth Observation Satellite with additional international research payloads. The satellite with a launch mass of approximately 7 tons was launched by a Soyuz -U carrier rocket on 15 June 2006 on an elliptical orbit and is tracked so that it always shows the same angle to the ground. It orbits the Earth at an altitude between 300 km and 600 km with an inclination of 69.9 °.

The construction of the originally designed for a service life of three years, satellite probably based on a military reconnaissance type Yantar -4K. On board, inter alia, to Russian equipment ESI ( Earth Surface Imager ) and ARINA ( for earthquake prediction ).

At the payloads of Resurs - DK1 also Germany, Italy and Sweden involved. So the experiment Pamela ( payload for antimatter matter exploration and light - nuclei astrophysics ) measures the trajectories and energy cosmic particles within the energy range from 50 MeV up to several 100 GeV, from which one to draw conclusions on the matter / anti- matter distribution of the young cosmos and on the nature of dark matter hoped. Pamela comprises a total of five different instruments, including a magnetic spectrometer and a calorimeter.

Successor is the 2013 satellite launched Resurs -P1.
