Reta Shaw

Reta Shaw ( * September 13 1912 in South Paris, † January 8, 1982 in Encino ) was an American actress.

Life

Her acting debut Reta Shaw at the age of 41 years in the fantasy television show Johnny Jupiter, which was, however, reinstated after only two episodes. The most well-known role in Germany of Shaw is that of "Mrs. Brill " in the Oscar-winning film adaptation Mary Poppins. On the side of Julie Andrews, David Tomlinson, Glynis Johns, she embodied the cook of the Banks family who is visited by the flying nanny.

The actress was seen in many cinema classics of the 1950s and 1960s, such as Picnic with William Holden and Kim Novak, picnic in pajamas with Doris Day, All love Pollyanna with Hayley Mills and Jane Wyman, three times to Mexico with Frank Sinatra and Deborah Kerr and many other films. For the German versions it was mostly synchronized by Erna Haffner.

However, Shaw was not only present in the film, especially on television, she proved her talents as a comedienne. Throughout her twenty -year career, she appeared very often in television series. These include Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Dick Van Dyke Show and its sequel,. Lucille Ball Show, Bewitched, The Odd Couple with Jack Klugman and Tony Randall, I Dream of Jeannie as well as Date with the Angels with Betty White

She also appeared in a television adaptation of Meet Me in St. Louis at the side of Myrna Loy and Patty Duke with and in several film and television projects with Bob Hope. Your last appearance was in 1975 in the Disney sci-fi film Escape to Witch Mountain starring Eddie Albert and Ray Milland.

Reta Shaw died at the age of 69 years.
