Retiming

Retiming is a synchronization method of transmission technology synchronous telecommunication networks. It is in the PDH and SDH, but rarely in the OTN technology (OTN: English optical transport network, dt » Optical Transport Network " ) are used. The retiming a received digital signal of a new cycle is transmitted, which may be derived from a clock recovery, but can also come from a clock distributing network. Retiming is one of the three tasks of electrical regenerators: Refreshing, reshaping and retiming. In transparent optical networks like the OTN retiming is not yet in use, as this the advantage of the transparent signal amplification is lost.
