Reto Ziegler ( 2012)

Reto Pirmin Ziegler ( born January 16, 1986 in Geneva ) is a Swiss football player standing since the summer of 2011 under contract at Juventus. In the season 2013/14 he was loaned to Sassuolo Calcio. His brother Ronald Ziegler is also a footballer; he plays in Switzerland Étoile Sportive FC Malley.

Career

In the club

Ziegler played in his youth at various Swiss youth teams. In summer 2000, he moved to the youth department of the Switzerland 's most successful club, for Grasshopper Club Zurich. Two years later, he managed to jump into the professional squad. After 1 ½ years in the Axpo Super League the defensive player left the Grasshoppers in the direction of England.

In August 2004, Reto Ziegler moved to the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur where he achieved his first Premier League goal just before his 19th birthday. In August 2005 he was loaned to the Hamburger SV, but from where he returned in January 2006. A short time later lent him Tottenham again, this time at Wigan Athletic. Since January 2007, he plays for Sampdoria in Serie A. In the 2009/10 season he reached with the Genoese in fourth place in Serie A and thus qualified with the Association for the following season to take part in the qualifying matches of the UEFA Champions League. In the 2010/11 season but Genoa could not build on the successes of the previous season and dismounted from Serie A. Then moved Ziegler end of May 2011 to Juventus, where he signed a four year contract. Ziegler is on loan in the 2011/12 season for 600,000 euros to the Turkish tradition Fenerbahçe SK from Istanbul in the Süper Lig. He won the Turkish Cup with Fenerbahce and was runner-up.

On September 6, 2012 Ziegler moved to end of the season on loan to the Russian first division club Lokomotiv Moscow.

After six months, the lending was terminated prematurely because Ziegler rarely came also suffered problems with Lokomotiv Moscow for use. On January 31, 2013 Ziegler returned until end of season back on loan to Fenerbahçe won the Turkish Cup. In the summer of 2013 he returned to Juventus, but was loaned out to Serie A climber Sassuolo Calcio for the season 2013/14.

In the National Team

Reto Ziegler played in the Swiss U-17 national team and won the U -17 European Championship title. Reto Ziegler was most active as a captain in the U21 national team of Switzerland. He has played for the Swiss national football team after last strong performances again. He was counted in 40 man Sichtungskader for Euro 2008, but was not included in the team and therefore came at the 2008 European Championship on home soil to no use. His debut in the Swiss national football team he was on 26 March 2005 at the Stade de France against France.

He played with the Swiss U- 21 team in qualifying for the U-21 European Championship 2009 in Sweden. The Switzerland qualified for the Barrage for a place in the finals of the U-21 European Football Championships. They won in the play-off against Spain at home 2-1, but lost 1:3 away and had thus not qualified.

In May 2010, national coach Ottmar Hitzfeld him nominated for the squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa after the team had qualified via the qualification the first of their group. At the World Cup Ziegler played through all three games, including a 1-0 victory over the eventual champions Spain.
