Retrodirect
The retro Direct is a product manufactured in France in the 1920s/30s bicycle, which stepped forward like a normal bike to work, with average translation. If there against backward kicked, so you drive with less translation - for example, for mountain driving - also forward.
Implemented this technique by two parallel freewheel sprocket and a chain guide that crosses over both deflector rear sprocket, once forward and once backward.
However, the technique could not prevail. Even the unusual for the muscles back pedaling makes for a term problems.
Some specimens are still preserved and are often admired on historical Cicloraduno when the driver backward stepping forward traveling up a mountain.
The Briton Drew Buck coped with a bike of this type in 2007, the 1200 km Brevet Paris -Brest-Paris successful.
