Retrograde amnesia

Retrograde amnesia (Latin: retro = backward; engl. Retrograde amnesia ) is a special form of amnesia in which people are no longer able to participate in events before a certain, usually traumatic to recall event.

Memory loss refers to a (usually short ) period before the particular event, a patient can no longer be used to remind to a course of the accident. If these memory lapses are severe, the resulting uncertainty for those affected can be agonizing.

Retrograde amnesia can occur in conjunction with a standing in the foreground anterograde amnesia even with a Korsakoff's syndrome.
