History

Was first documented " Reccisstadt " in the middle of the 8th century. Retzstadt was as part of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg ( cathedral chapter ), which belonged to the Frankish Empire Circle, secularized in 1803 in Bavaria's favor, then leave in the Peace of Pressburg Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg, with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814.
