History
Building on the tradition of the court orchestra of the Reuss court, which can be traced back to the year 1696, the Gera concert life developed.
From the ranks of soloists and members of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the " Chamber Orchestra of the stages the city of Gera " was founded in the season 1960/61, from 1 concertmaster Herbert Voigt. 1987 was awarded the title " Philharmonic Orchestra " and in 2000 united with the equally traditional country chapel Altenburg. Concerts

Outstanding in the history of the Reuss Chamber Orchestra is the musical accompaniment of the first two services for the Feast of Dedication of the Frauenkirche in Dresden. Since there is a close cooperation with the Frauenkirche Kantor Matthias Grunert, which is documented in joint concerts and now goes beyond the cities of Gera, Altenburg and Dresden.
