Reuth, Rhineland-Palatinate

Reuth is a municipality in the district of volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Upper Kyll whose administrative headquarters is in Juenkerath. Reuth is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geographical location

The place is located in the Eifel. To Reuth also includes the hamlet Neureuth.

History

The place name Reuth has the meaning of a medieval clearing.

1335 gave the Counts of Blankenheim, the city Kyle with the place Reuth to King John of Bohemia, and received it as a fief back. 1423 Reuth went into the possession of the Counts of Loon. Reuth came in 1469 to the Counts of Manderscheid.

After 1794, the left bank of the Rhine was occupied by French revolutionary troops belonged Reuth 1798-1814 to Canton Lissendorf in Saar Department and was assigned by the Mairie Stadtkyll. By the Congress of Vienna ( 1815) Reuth came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1816 part of the circle Prüm in the Trier region. The church was under the administration of mayor Stadtkyll.
