Reuven Amitai

Christoph cluse ( born September 8, 1964 in Alder ( Raesfeld ) ) is a German historian of Medieval History.

Christoph cluse studied the subjects of history and English literature at the universities of Heidelberg, Trier and Leeds. His doctorate in 1998 in Trier to the Jews in the medieval Netherlands. Since 1997 he has been director or officer of the Board of Arye Maimon Institute for the History of the Jews, with an interruption from 2003 to 2007 during which time he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Graduate College 846. " Slavery - servitude and forced labor - forced labor " to Trier University and a research associate in the DFG project "Research on the social history of Mediterranean slavery in the Middle Ages ". From 2007 to 2009, he led, together with Reuven Amitai of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the research project " Slavery in the Later Medieval Mediterranean ".

Cluse is a member of the editorial board of the series " Cultural Encounters in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages", which appears at Brepols Publishers, as well as a board member and treasurer of the Society for the Study of the History of the Jews eV ( GEGJ ). His research interests include the history of the Jews in the Middle Ages, the design history of anti-Jewish stereotypes, sermons as sources for medieval history and slavery in the high and late Middle Ages, especially in urban areas north and central Italy.
