Revin

Revin is a commune with 7187 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Ardennes, Champagne-Ardenne region.

Geography

The city is surrounded by forests, about 25 km north of Charleville- Mézières, near the Belgian border at the foot of the Ardennes on a loop of the Meuse ( frz: Meuse). The city is also the ship channel Canal de la Meuse (formerly Canal de l' Est, industry- Nord) developed, which is formed by the canalized River Meuse.

History

First mention of the place in a donation document from the year 762, in which Pepin the Short transmits the location of the Prüm Abbey.

Attractions

  • Interesting church from the 17th century, and half-timbered buildings, such as the data used as a museum La Maison Espagnol.
  • The municipality is also a hydroelectric pumped storage plant of Electricité de France (EdF ).
