Revival (theatre)

A resumption of the theater is a new series of performances of a production after prolonged stoppages. In contrast to the new staging the resumption takes over the decorations, costumes, and the director's concept of an earlier staging. Recovery, there is often at theaters with repertory system.

Recovery can happen especially in musical theater with a new cast of characters. These longer resume samples are required, which are sometimes guided only by the assistant director ( the director is possibly already dead, as in the productions of Herbert von Karajan in the repertoire of the Vienna State Opera ).
