Revolver (2005 film)

Revolver is a mystery film by writer and director Guy Ritchie from the year 2005, in which fights the main character, played by Jason Statham, his own ego. He appeared in Germany on November 20, 2008 directly to DVD.

Action

The con artist Jake Green is released from prison in solitary confinement after seven years and wants to take on his opponent, the criminal casino owner Dorothy Macha revenge.

Dorothy Macha was involved in the entire city of illegal games. This underworld games he controlled with the help of three thugs who were known as the Three Eddies. As Macha lost his players just before a major tournament, and he asked the three Eddies Jake Green as a substitute. After he refused the offer at first, they began to harass the family of Green's brother Billy, to Green finally agreed. Although Green won the game, but when the defeated enemy began to insult him after he shot him under the table in the foot. There was a firefight during which the money disappeared placed in the game.

Two weeks later, Green's name to the police was called, and there was a survey. Macha, fearing that Green would betray him to the authorities, the three Eddies again sent to Billy's family, where they shot Greens niece threatened and Billy's wife, as this trying to protect her daughter. While in prison, Jake Green learned a specific strategy to win every game ( mentioned in the film The formula ). The formula itself was discovered by two unidentified men who were detained in the cells on either side of Green. One of them was a chess master, the other a con artist. During the first five years of her prison stay, the three men communicated through tricks and maneuvers in secret messages that they used to hide in borrowed library books such as Mathematical structure of quantum mechanics.

The chess master and the con artists were planning a joint prison break and promised Green to take him. But when she finally disappeared without a trace from their cells, they left him to serve out the remaining two years of the sentence. After his release from prison noticed Green that his money and his possessions were stolen by the two men. He spent the following two years trying to come up with the help of the " formula " in different casinos to new assets.

Reviews

  • A few critics praised Guy Ritchie's visual presentation, music, timing and dialogues, which he included in the film, and attested him a break with his previous style.   • On the reviews platform Rotten Tomatoes but only 17% of the votes reviews were positive.

Soundtrack

According to director Guy Ritchie, the music should initially be similar to the previous films Jack, Queen, King, grass and Snatch - Pigs and diamonds, but he decided in the course of production for a majority of new compositions.

The music itself is an experimental combination of acid jazz, synth rock and new music. It can be heard among others Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and a remix of Ennio Morricone's piece of 2Raumwohnung Mucchio Selvaggio. In addition, at several points of the film parts of the Lacrimosa from Mozart's Requiem ( KV626 ) occur.
