Product history

History electronics

After starting out with the Dynavox 1949 1951 Revox T26 is a desktop unit with integrated radio receiver. In 1955, the Revox A36 follows the first tape recorder with 3 motors, 1 motor for the tape transport at a constant speed, 2 independent motors under the tape winding plates. 1957 is the portable studio quality tape recorder B30 on the market, in 1958 the tape recorder C36.

In 1960, the tape recorder Revox D36 on the market, the first time enabled stereo recordings in half or quarter track record; in the years that followed 1961, the unit E36, 1962, the Revox F36 and G36 in 1963, which was still very much in demand 20 years later because of the sound tube and its mechanical soundness with lovers.

1967 was the production of the tape recorder Revox A77. " The A77 " was the epitome of a high-quality tape machine for the demanding home use, later also with Dolby B noise reduction. With the material RECOVAC the Vacuum Hanau Revox produced longer lasting " Revodur " heads themselves ( from A77 MK II). At the head Bandkanteneinfräsungen provide above and below the belt run for an improved tape -head contact with progressive wear. The shape of the head was designed for a large contact area, which caused a low level resonance head for deep bass reproduction.

In 1974, in the model A700 for the first time a digital drive control logic and a quartz- stabilized engine control was employed. Own ICs were developed for this band machine type. Low-resonance chassis castings characterize the structures of the devices of this generation. The devices were " measured" individually factory for each speed and track on the Revox tape, resulting in a very linear frequency response enabled. The strip material Revox 601 corresponded 3M Scotch 207, later followed Revox 621, 631 and 641 The Rückseitenmattierung allowed a clean tape winding even at high winding speed. When changing the type of tape that Vormagnetisiserung should be adjusted internally for new optimal frequency response and dynamic range. Suitable for semi-professional tape A700 ( with preamplifier ), the tuner preamplifier A720 with a digital frequency display was (consisting of several Nixie tubes ) are presented as well as the power amplifier A722. As a consequence, the semi-professional power amplifiers A / B740 were added.

In parallel with the A77 were more hi- fi equipment, such as tuner and amplifier, added to the product range. At the IFA 1977 in Berlin presented Studer Revox B- series, which was successfully positioned in the market. In addition to the B77 tape machine with control logic, a new reference seminal synthesizer tuner B760, B750 an integrated amplifier, and the first direct-drive turntable B790 were presented with Tangential. The B-Series was completed in 1981 with the first receiver of the company, the B780 and B739 Vorverstärkerpendant his tuner. The company was in the studio and produced a world leader alongside the tape machines especially mixers. Also, headphones and microphones were on offer, which were purchased from Beyerdynamic. In 1981 the first professional cassette recorder Studer A710 and B710 Consumerpendant be. These devices were characterized in particular by a unique 4 - motor drive model, which worked without belts, drive wheels, or slip clutches ( ). 1983 offered Revox, based on the B200 - conditioning, his first multi-room system that allowed music in every room of the house. Revox was the first company in the world offering a multiroom system.

Worldwide recognition reached Studer Revox with the 1987 featured new deck B215, which also possessed over the estimated 4- motor drive. In addition, a Einmesscomputer it was donated, which could save all the parameters for six different cassette types. The professional version of this device was the Studer A721. Both devices are now the epitome of services in the field of cassette recorder. For the B200 family also included the B250 integrated amplifier, the B260 FM tuner, the B226 CD player, the B291 Tangentialplattenspieler and the audio-video controller B200. Not only the FM tuner B260 reached Reference Statute. This tuner was characterized by two separate RF input stages - one for the high signal level, as they provide broadband cable systems, and another for low level input signals with a high sensitivity. Furthermore, the B260 already had a slot for an RDS module. With the Revox B200 enabled, among other things, the operation of several devices at your fingertips. The B200 linked devices of the B200 series with serial link connections among themselves, so that off and the CD player is turned on, for example, when switching from the current radio program on CD tuner.

The B200 series was offered in the classic Revox line with aluminum color upper front panel and as S- series with gold-colored elements of style and piano black side panels and most recently as an e- series (designer Hannes Wettstein ) in fine anthracite. From the S- series, all components were also offered by the E- series with the exception of the turntable B291 and B242 all components of the output stage.

Based on the first multiroom concept of B200er series other multiroom systems for the H- series (1987 ), evolution (1990 ), the emotion (1991 ), the exception (1996) and the Elegance series ( 1998) were developed. In all systems, a room amplifier of type B219, H219 or V219 was used for each additional room.

Current Electronics

In 2002 was published with the M51, a modular audio-video system. It is, inter alia, designed to supply up to 32 rooms in four different listening zones with music. Standard equipment ( DVD drive and 5.1 module), to add further modules to customer requirements, such as radio receivers, analog module supports (for connection of turntables or tape recorders ), multimedia module, etc. will also control via smartphone apps. The amplifiers provide up to 5 x 200 Watts RMS into pulse-width modulation technique.

Additional elements of the " multi-room concept " by the audio server Revox Revox M37 M57 and the successor.

The M- series was extended in 2006 to the M10, a 19 " rack solution as a central switching and source point, and 2010 to the 2 x 200 watt amplifier M100, FM tuner and DVD drive in a compact body. For models M10 and M51, the latter currently in the Mk II version, which can be used modules are identical. for the M100 most modules are offered as a pluggable additions to the basic model. in multi-room operation, the controller of the rooms either via wall-mounted control units via remote control or via apps for the iOS operating system.

Besides the pure M37 audio server of the Multimedia Server M117 was introduced in 2011, both of which are optically aligned on the design of other systems. To design the entire product line include, inter alia, Aluminum and glass.

In 2012, Revox has developed a family of audio network receivers. The series Joy, whose models S118 - S120, inter alia, differ in output, support access to audio streams of storage media (NAS, PC as well as smart phones ) allow you to connect multiple devices via classic audio inputs and can be controlled remotely by radio.
