Revue des Deux Mondes

The Revue des Deux Mondes ( German to approximately: report of two worlds ) is one of the oldest existing magazines in Europe. It was founded by Prosper Mauroy and Pierre de Ségur- Dupeyron and published since August 1, 1829. Sees itself as a cultural, economic and political bridge between France and the United States.

Over time, it was a platform for many prominent personalities. Among other things, published George Sand, Charles Baudelaire, Leo Tolstoy, Stendhal, Alfred de Musset, Gérard de Nerval, Albert de Broglie, Victor Hugo, Hippolyte Taine, Ernest Renan, Alexis de Tocqueville, Heinrich Heine, Gabriele D' Annunzio, Maurice Barres, Anton Chekhov, Joseph Kessel, Somerset Maugham, François Mauriac and Jean Baptiste Gustave Planche in the Revue des Deux Mondes.

In 1853 here the French version of Heine's Gods in Exile appeared as Les Dieux en exile.
