Reykjavik City Theatre

Borgarleikhúsið (Eng. the Municipal Theatre ) is the theater of Reykjavik near the shopping center Kringlan.

The house was opened with the pieces world light and hell sumarlandsins on October 20, 1989 by Halldór Laxness. In the house there are three stages and in the large hall can seat up to 550 spectators. Construction costs amounted to 1.5 billion Icelandic crowns.

Previously served for about ninety years the theater in Iðnó, the wooden house next to City Hall right on Tjörnin that purpose.
