Rhagades predotae

Rhagades predotae is a butterfly of the family of burnet ( Zygaenidae ).

Features

The moths have a forewing length 9.0 to 10.0 mm. Between males and females there is no difference in size and coloring. Head, thorax and abdomen are black. The sensors consist of 34 to 36 segments. The fore wings are black and have a typical red-violet shine. The hind wings are gray black, the Diskalregion is slightly translucent. In the males, the tapered end of the uncus is beak -shaped. The distal portion is heavily sclerotized, the basal part has a rectangular shape. Tegumen and Vinculum have the typical for the subgenus features: the rear part of the Tegumens has a characteristic indentation, in which is located the base of the uncus. The uncus has a strongly sclerotized, tied-off conical tip. The Vinculum is not very strong sclerotized. The Valven are longer and narrower than in rhagades amasina. The proximal region is rectangular, the distal end of the blades is ventrally expanded by two small tooth-like spikes. The aedeagus has a long straight cornutus, occasionally one or two very small tooth-like Sklerotisierungen are available. The ostium is wide and slit- shaped, the Präbursa is strongly sclerotized distally and has a ring-like structure. The ductus bursae is placed laterally, slender, translucent and tortuous. The corpus bursae is ovate.

Rhagades amasina is brownish black, shimmering olive green and is native only in the eastern Mediterranean. The Dark Grünwidderchen ( rhagades pruni ) is more bluish-green, red-violet does not shine and does not occur in central, southern and eastern Spain. Both types genitalmorphologisch greatly from rhagades differ predotae.
