The Rhein- Main International Montessori School ( RIMS) is next to the Philipp-Reis -Schule ( PRS) is one of two secondary schools in Friedrichsdorf. The RIMS is independently operated. It is further the youngest school in the city. As one of the few international Montessori schools in Germany it combines the full range of Montessori pedagogy to Maria Montessori Children's House from across the elementary school up to high school under one roof. The RIMS operates according to the standards of the Association Montessori Internationale, a kind of seal of approval for Montessori schools.

Foundation

The RIMS was inaugurated in 2004 as a school. Planning began in 2002. At that time she was sponsored and designed by the couple of Walderdorff and the sponsoring organization.

Location

The RIMS is located in Friedrichsdorf, a town about 20 kilometers from Frankfurt am Main.

Schulträger

The RIMS eV is directed and sponsored by RIMS. It was founded on 18 February 2003 as a non-profit organization. Before you can log on to the RIMS his child, you should be a member of this club. School

The RIMS consists of a children's home, a primary school and a secondary school with Gymnasium upper level. The sixth form was introduced in the school year 2008/2009. In upper secondary branch is not taught by the methods of Maria Montessori.

Teachers and students

Currently working on the RIMS (February 2008) 47 teachers. The part-time and freelance staff teach only one to three subjects, while tenured teachers are full day there and cover all subjects in some classes. The teaching staff of RIMS come from ten countries.

Approximately 370 students attended the school year 2007 /2008 RIMS. In the summer of 2008 came another children's home group added with 25 children.

Financing of school

The RIMS is an alternative school. It is funded by parent contributions and funds from the Hessian Ersatzschulfinanizierung. As other comparable schools also - - As the replacement school fees to be paid until three years after the opening of the school, must RIMS bridge the gap with loans. According to the RIMS Board school in a few years will be debt free.

Building

The RIMS has two buildings. One of the main building, there was from the beginning, and a second building, which was completed in August 2006. The annex building is much larger than the main building, as it is home to most of the classrooms.

In the main building are located since the summer of 2007, the children's home groups and the elementary school classes. It consists of four floors and a basement, where there was a dance school and which is now used by some modifications, for the advanced level. The ground floor houses the staff room, office, conference room and the auditorium. Also there are the offices of the administrative and the educational director. In the first to third floor there are classrooms for the primary school.
