History

The second, built in the 60s of the 19th Jahn a century breakpoint within the boundary of the former city Rheinhausen fell within the boundaries of the mayoralty Hochemmerich and was officially named station Rheinhausen. He lay south of the railway bridge on the present Logportgelände, the former steelworks site and opposite the cult port at the Duisburg site. The consent procedure was operated by the Rhenish Railway Company for the Osterrath Essenes railway, as well as the enlargement of this station. With the completion of the first railway bridge in 1873, the station was moved to Friemersheim, but retained the name Rheinhausen. Over the following years, the increased volume of traffic on the railway line so that the station was no longer sufficient in its capacity. Therefore, the Prussian state railways from 1894 resulted from extensions.

Built in 1877 at the Kruppstraße in Friemersheim station building with the name " Rheinhausen " in 1904 was canceled again. The construction of the new station building was primarily related to the construction of the railway Trompet - Kleve and Trompet -Rheinhausen. The new station was built at the Windmill Street, near the former station building in 1904. He received the station name " Friemersheim ". This name was again changed after the merger of the mayors Hochemmerich Friemersheim and the greater community Rheinhausen in the year 1923 in the original name " Rheinhausen " and continues today.

The tunnel under the railway platforms remained in the original form of the construction of the railway building. He was extended between 2006 and 2007 on the north side of the tracks and the newly built access road "Am Logport " addition. Thus, the platforms can be reached today by the Hochemmericher page through the settled area around the Bering Strait / lime avenue / Maiblumenstraße.

Simultaneously with the construction of the station building at Windmühlenstraße also the interlocking Rheinhausen ( Friemersheim ) -West was built. It stood on the overpass of the railway tracks in the amount of the bridge structure. The transfer was in the late 1950s replaced by the underpass Rheingoldstr. / Creek road as the bridge construction to the width and carrying capacity was no longer cope with the increasing truck and car traffic. In addition, the clearance height for later electrification of the line was not enough. The signal box building " Rmf " Rheinhausen Center Dispatchers, built of brick, was east of the station between the railway tracks positioned, was taken in 1890 in service and replaced in 1973 by a new building on the Kruppstraße.

Construction

The now closed station building from 1904 stands on the south side of the tracks. The two island platforms are reachable through a tunnel with a separate entrance, which was extended during conversion in 2007 to the north side of the tracks.

The southern platform with the tracks 3 and 4 lies between the running lines of the railway line from Duisburg Hbf to Krefeld Hbf from this thread east of the station, the tracks 1 and 2 at the same level and lead to the northern platform where the trains to and from Moers Xanten and leave.

Operation

The Rhein Bahnhof is served by three regional transport routes. The lines RE11 and RB33 are operated by DB Regio NRW, the line RB31 operates since December 13, 2009 the North Western Railway.

Public transport

The station is served by several bus lines:

Especially on weekends the connection is so thinned out that it is faster under certain circumstances, seven kilometers further to Duisburg Hbf and from there back down to a bus, or walk the same walk.

The usability of the station by passengers from example Homberg or Winkelhausen has been limited by the Duisburg transport company because of circumcision of the left bank of the Rhine Tangentialbuslinien. A ring line for better incorporation of the Rhine Hauser stations was rejected by the Duisburg site, as they supposedly would have " little traffic-related benefits ." According to a study Friemersheim is considered " over-supplied ".

Others
