Rheinhessen-Pfalz

The county of Rheinhessen-Pfalz from 1968 was one of the three administrative districts of Rhineland- Palatinate. The area is located in the south of the country and included the former Bavarian Palatinate and in the north formerly the Grand Duchy of Hesse State or people belonging to those regions. In 2000, the government district was dissolved.

Rheinhessen-Pfalz included 10 county-level cities and 10 counties. The county was formed ( in Neustadt on the Wine Route seat) in 1968 by the union in 1946 decorated in the formation of the state of Rhineland -Palatinate government districts Rheinhessen ( based in Mainz) and Palatinate.

With the restructuring of the National Administration on January 1, 2000, the government district in Rhineland -Palatinate were dissolved and transferred to the district governments in the Supervisory and Service Directorate ( ADD) or structure and approval directorates ( SGD) North and South, which is now for certain tasks and are no longer responsible for all tasks within their existing district. Your responsibilities spatial therefore extend partially also to the whole country. The narrower remit of SGD South corresponds to the area of the former government district of Rheinhessen-Pfalz.
