Rhett Warrener

Rhett Warrener ( born January 27, 1976 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defender who played 1995-2009 for the Florida Panthers, Buffalo Sabres and Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League. Since the end of his active career, he worked as a scout for the Calgary Flames.

Career

Rhett Warrener began his career as a hockey player in 1991 at the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League, for whom he played a total of four years. During the NHL Entry Draft 1994 Warrener was selected in the second round than a total of 27 players from the Florida Panthers. For the Panthers played the Canadians until 1999. During his first season in Florida, he was also in nine games for the farm team of the Panthers, the Carolina Monarchs of the American Hockey League, on the ice. On March 23, 1999, he was discharged to the Buffalo Sabres. As of July 3, 2003 Warrener played for the Calgary Flames. With all three of its teams from the National Hockey League lost Warrener ever once the finals for the Stanley Cup: 1996 with the Florida Panthers in 1999 with the Buffalo Sabres and 2004 with the Calgary Flames.

Due to the excess of the salary cap Warrener was canceled until further notice on June 26, 2008 by the Calgary Flames in their NHL squad. Then he was able to attend due to an injury no play in the 2008/ 09 season. In the summer of 2009, he ended his active career. He has since worked as a scout for the Calgary Flames.

Internationally

Warrener represented the Canadian national team at the World Youth Championship in 1996. Canadians won the gold medal in this tournament and the defender was in six games on the ice, where he remained no points and was awarded four penalty minutes.
