Rhinebeck is in the northwest of the Dutchess County, New York, United States. In 2000, the city Rhinebeck had 7762 inhabitants. Within the city limits lies the Village of Rhinebeck.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 103.2 km ², of which 93.9 km ² of land and 9.2 km ² omitted ( = 8.96 %) to water. U.S. Highway 9 runs through the urban area.
The western city limit is formed by the Hudson River and is adjacent to the Ulster County.

At the time of the census of 2000, the city Rhinebeck inhabited 7762 people. The population density was 82.7 people per km ². There were 3255 housing units at an average 34.7 per km ². The population consisted of 92.50 % White, 3.61 % African American, 0.09 % Native American, 1.37 % Asian, 1.17 % reported from other races, and 1.26 % from two or more races. 3.94 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Residents Rhine Becks distributed to 3001 households out of which 25.9 % were living in children under 18 years. 50.2 % married couples living together, 7.1 % had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.1% were non-families. 34.0 % of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 15.2 % of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size is 2.87 people.
The city population was spread out with 20.3 % under the, 5.8 % 18 -24- year-old, 25.4 % 25 -44- year-old, 25.7 % 45-64 year olds and 22.8 % under the age of 65 years or more. The average age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 91.5 males. In the over -18s accounted for 100 women 84.1 males.
