Rhipsalis mesembryanthemoides is a flowering plant in the genus rhipsalis from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ).

Description

Rhipsalis mesembryanthemoides growing epiphyte with initially upright, later drooping, branched mesotonisch, clear double -faceted stems. The cylindrical, woody main shoots are 10 to 20 inches long and measure 1 to 2 millimeters in diameter. The also cylindrical, green side shoots are short, drehrund and 7 to 15 mm long and have a diameter of 2-4 millimeters. The areoles are occupied with some fine bristles.

The white flowers appear on the side of the shoots. They are 8 millimeters long and reach a diameter of 15 millimeters. The spherical fruits are white. On them shall be liable a perennial flowers rest.

Distribution, systematics and hazard

Rhipsalis mesembryanthemoides is common in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro.

The first description was in 1821 by Adrian Hardy Haworth.

In the Red List of Threatened Species IUCN, the type is known as " Critically Endangered (CR ) ', ie threatened with extinction than out.
