Rhipsalis oblonga is a flowering plant in the genus rhipsalis from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ).

Description

Rhipsalis oblonga growing epiphytic or lithophytic and shrubby with semi- upright to hanging two diverse shoots. Her three -edged or winged main shoots are usually flattened cylindrical or occasionally. The very thin side shoots are flattened. The shoots are light green, 5-9 centimeters long and 3-6 centimeters wide. Their edges are wavy to lobed. The sunken, very small areoles bear after flowering small bristles.

The yellowish-white, wheel-shaped, single flowers appear laterally and reach a length of up to 1.2 centimeters. The spherical fruits are pink to white.

Rhipsalis oblonga is widespread in the Brazilian states of Bahia, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The first description was published in 1918 by Albert Löfgren.

Rhipsalis oblonga was in the Red List of Threatened Species IUCN in 2002 as " Near Threatened (NT) ", ie Threatened classified. After the revision of the list in 2013 is the type as " Vulnerable (VU) ," ie, performed as endangered.
