Rhipsalis pacheco-leonis

Rhipsalis pacheco - leonis is a flowering plant in the genus rhipsalis from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ).

Description

Rhipsalis pacheco - leonis growing epiphytic or lithophytic and shrubby with creeping up drooping, irregularly branching stems of unlimited growth. The ever lively branching, turning round to angular shoots have low hump on. Rarely are terminal composite areoles present. The areolae are covered with wool and bristles.

The bright pink, red, wheel-shaped flowers appear sideways. The spherical fruits are red.

Systematics, distribution and hazard

Rhipsalis pacheco - leonis is widespread in the south of the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo, and almost everywhere in Rio de Janeiro. The first description was published in 1918 by Albert Löfgren. We distinguish the following sub- types:

  • Rhipsalis pacheco - leonis subsp. pacheco - leonis
  • Rhipsalis pacheco - leonis subsp. catenulata

The subspecies differ in the degree of severity of the succulence of their instincts.

About the threat status of rhipsalis pacheco - leonis and the subspecies rhipsalis pacheco - leonis subsp. catenulata there were in the Red List of Threatened Species IUCN in 2002 insufficient data. After the revision of the list of 2013, the type is called " Endangered ( EN ) ', ie performed as endangered and the subspecies rhipsalis pacheco - leonis subsp. catenulata excluded from the list.
